THE PACIFIC 2016: SMILE WITH ENGLISH

The official Slogan, “Smile with English”, created when establishing Incheon as a commercial and business hub of northeast Asia.
GET IN:
Many airlines fly direct between Manila and Incheon, but since I am going to the US, I booked with Asiana bound to San Francisco. My boarding pass to my final destination was issued here at NAIA. I used this as my Visa to enter in South Korea. I visited Incheon City before heading to SFO since I have 12 hours free-time.
By the way >>> ASIANA AIRLINES is my favorite airline in Asia.
Why? – basta nagustuhan ko.
GET AROUND:
I explored some part of the City by subway and on foot.
From Incheon Airport, I boarded on KOREA AREX, get off at Gyeyang Station, this station is located parallel to the Incheon Subway Station, connected by a walkway.
ACCOMMODATION:
None – I just spent a Day in the City.
ATTRACTIONS:
I visited the INCHEON CHINA TOWN and THE UBIQUITOUS CITY.

The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit was held in Pasay City Philippines on Nov. 18 to 19, 2015. Because of this I created a hashtag for the continuation of my journey. The countries I have chosen to visit in 2016 are members of this summit.

IMAGINE YOUR KOREA

April 2014
Spring 2014, I flew to Incheon Korea to catch my connecting flight bound to Ulan
Baatar Mongolia. I had 48 hours of stay in Korea so I decided to visit Sokcho
City, wherein Republic of Korea’s wonderful national park is located, called
Seoraksan National Park. Korean Government said that this is their first famous
mountain, Seoraksan, located in the center of Baekdudegan. There are seasons
and display various landscapes, around 3,400 strange rocks with various shapes,
around 4 million variety of plants and animals that live in the Seoraksan.
Visitors and nature can breathe at its best, beautiful and famous national
park.
Sokcho
Sokcho City
is located in the far north east of Gangwon-do, South Korea. It takes 1hour and
40 minutes journey by public bus from Seoul. Buses leave from Dong Seoul Bus Terminal
to Sokcho City every 30 minutes.

How to get to Dong Seoul Bus Terminal from Incheon International Airport:
At the
airport, buy a single journey train ticket at the vendo machine, select Hongkik
University Station as you will get off to this station and transfer to Seoul
Subway Line 2. Gets another ticket going to Gangbyeon Station, wherein the Bus
terminal is located. At the Gangbyeon Station, Exit to the left side and you
will see the terminal building in front of you.

Inside the
Bus Terminal, there is an Information counter in which you can ask for the bus
schedule bound to Sokcho. The staff speaks and understand English, she told me
to buy ticket at the window “English” counter.
Buses depart on time. Date and time of departure, seat and platform number are stated on the ticket, but not the bus number. So I took a seat near at the platform stated on my ticket and waited the bus.

After 1
hour and 40 minutes, I arrived at Sockho Intercity bus terminal.
From the
entrance door of this terminal I turned right and walked straight going to the
beach then turned right on the second corner and I saw a bus stop and a sign
board of The House Hostel, in which I stayed for a night.

That was my
first time staying in a hostel. I booked for a private room with private
toilet and bath. I don’t want to stay in a room with strangers.
After I checked
in, I went to the bus stop and took bus number 7 (other bus number is 7-1) going to Seoraksan National Park (last bus stop). There are lots of activities to do
in this place but since I only had 48 hours of stay, I did only one course and
the walking city tour.
Return
ticket for Sorak Cable car costs 9,000 won (372.00 pesos) and Entrance ticket
to the park costs 3,500 won (145.00 pesos) as of April 20, 2014.
From the
National park, I took the bus 7-1, alighted at the Expo Park and explore the
city by foot. Since it was spring season, I enjoyed walking. That is the
type of weather/temperature I always wanted to have in Metro Manila.
I am not a

DYNAMIC BUSAN
April 2012
One of the best resorts in Korea with luxurious hotels and restaurants are located along the beautiful coastline of Haeundae Beach. A variety of festivals are held here throughout the year, including many, right on the 1km long sandy beach.
On our Day 2, we took
the Taejongdae Loop tour for us to have fantastic views of the ocean and
beautiful 9.1km coastline at the southernmost point of Yeongdo Island. Taejongdae
is a leading tourist attraction best known for its observatory and lighthouse overlooking
the sea and its view of Japan’s Tsushima Island.
Seeing abundant cherry blossoms in Busan highlighted my visit. I spent “spring-summer” holy week vacation 2012 in this awesome place
with my travel buddies. Even if I have visited Korea for several times already,
it always felt like it was my first time because its atmosphere and people
never fail to amaze me.
Itinerary
Initially, our itinerary was scheduled as follows:
Day 1 Arrival in Busan
Day 2 Whole Day Busan
City Tour
Then over night journey to Jeju Island
via ferryboat
Day
3 Jeju Island Tour
Then back to Busan via overnight

Day 4 Last peep in
Busan before going back to Manila
Unfortunately, it did
not materialize. Six hours prior to departure, my friend in Seoul who was in
charged in the reservation of our ferry seats going to/from Jeju Island
informed me that there was no boat voyage on our selected dates. We have no choice but to stay in Busan,
explore and feel its heartbeat. So before departing in Manila, I booked our hotel
via Agoda for two nights. We stayed at Ibis Ambassador Hotel in the city centre of Busan,
located at 573-7 Bujeon-dong Busanjin-gu
614030 Busan South Korea. The nearest subway station is Bujeon station, Exit 1
or 9. There is also a Mini-mart
and Starbucks close to our hotel. The famous Bujeon market is also in close
proximity.
Jeju Island
During that time, Jeju
Island was newly and formally confirmed as one of the new 7 wonders of nature.
“Jeju-do is a volcanic island located 130
kilometres off the southern coast of South Korea. It is the country’s largest
island, smallest province and home to its tallest mountain, Halla-san, a
dramatic-looking dormant volcano that rises 1,950 metres above sea level. The
people of Jeju have developed a culture and language that are distinct from
those of mainland Korea, and the island is famous for its matriarchal family
structure, symbolized by the haenyeo (“sea women”), who
make a living from deep-sea diving to harvest marine products.” – new7wonders
Upon arrival at Busan
International Airport, we took a cab going to Sunset Business Hotel, wherein we
are booked for our first and fourth day in the city. Sunset Business Hotel is
situated at 1391-66, Jung-dong, Haeundae-gu, Haeundae Beach, Busan, South Korea.
The nearest subway is Haeundae station.
Haeundae Beach,
Haedong Yonggung Temple, Busan Aquarium and Spa, Paradise Duty free and the market
are accessible from where we are staying.

The Tour
Busan City has two
types of tours: the themed and loop tours. The themed tours consist of history
and culture, temple and eco tour and the night views tour. This time, we chose
the loop tour. Loop tour is a hop-on hop-off service, which departs everyday
(except Monday) in front of Arirang Hotel at Busan Station Square, between Exit
8 of Busan Metro and Exit 1 of Busan Railway Station. Tickets can be purchased
on first-come-first-serve basis from the driver. You can visit their website, Busan City Tour

The next day, we
availed the Haeundae Loop tour. The loop consisted of visits at Haeundae Beach,
Busan Museum, Gwangali Beach, Nurimaru, Shinsegae Department Store, BEXCO and
UN Memorial Park.

Shinsegae Centumcity
is the largest department store in the world. It is an amazing and fun place
that is like a city itself and a Guinness World Record holder. The certification
is dated June 26, 2009.

Furthermore, Guinness World
Records recognized the Busan Cinema Centre’s Big Roof located at Centum City in
Haeundae, as the largest cantilever roof in the world.

I discovered more
amazing facts about the heartbeat of Dynamic Busan. I am sure that this city
will continue to grow and flourish not just in the world but in the heart of
many people just like me. Korea is waiting to share its richness and beauty
